The Circulation/Book Lending Services at Haruna Wakili Library are designed to provide efficient and user-friendly access to the library’s vast collection of resources. Here are the key features and operations of the Circulation/Book Lending Services:

Borrowing Materials

  • Loan Periods:
  • The library offers a variety of loan periods to accommodate different user needs. Standard loan periods may vary depending on the type of material, with typical durations ranging from one week to one semester. Specific loan periods are available for books, multimedia items, and special collections.

  • Check-Out Process:
  • Users can check out materials at the circulation desk with the assistance of library staff or by using self-checkout kiosks for a quicker process. A valid university ID or library card is required to borrow items.

  • Borrowing Limits:
  • To ensure fair access to resources, there are borrowing limits in place. These limits vary by user category, such as undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff, with faculty often having higher borrowing limits due to their research needs.

    Returning Materials

  • Return Options:
  • Materials can be returned at the circulation desk during library hours or through designated book drop boxes available 24/7. The library ensures multiple return options to accommodate users' schedules and convenience.

  • Overdue Fines and Fees:
  • To encourage timely returns and fair access to materials, the library imposes overdue fines for items returned past their due dates. Notifications and reminders are sent to users to help them manage their borrowed items and avoid fines.

    Renewals and Holds

  • Users can renew borrowed items if additional time is needed, provided the items are not on hold for another user. Renewals can be processed online through the library’s catalog, in person at the circulation desk, or by phone.

    Placing Holds:

    If a desired item is currently checked out, users can place a hold on it. When the item is returned, the user will be notified and the item will be reserved for them to pick up within a specified period.

    Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

  • Access to External Resources:
  • Through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service, users can request materials not available in the Haruna Wakili Library’s collection. The library collaborates with other institutions to provide access to a broader range of resources, enhancing research capabilities.

  • Request Process:
